#FAIL

I was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago and saw this book in the Art Institute of Chicago.

Books with a Fennec Fox on the cover are always going to grab my attention.

As I flipped through it I enjoyed the photographic style

But then ....

Epic FAIL

  1. Should be dark spots on a light body? Is it just a printing error, or is this some other kind of snake?

    1. P.S. I was just out there a few weeks ago too, but the bookstore was closed.

  2. It is the wrong species of snake. The photo is of a Ball Python, not a Burmese Python. The difference is only ~20ft and a couple hundred pounds.

  3. Maybe AIC has developed its own species concept: the chromatic species concept (CSC). CSC is similar to the morphological species concept, but it's solely based on color--ha! Therefore, all black and brown snakes are the same species!
